fIREHOSE
– "lowFLOWs: the Columbia Anthology (’91-’93)"
(Columbia/Legacy)
Alright hOSERS! What we have here is a double CD collection
of everything fIREHOSE did while they were on the Columbia
label. The first disc includes their major label debut Flyin’
the Flannel plus a song from a rare soundtrack appearance
and a previously unreleased instrumental version of album
opener "Down With The Bass."
Rounding out disc 1 is the entire "Live Totem Pole"
EP , which consists mostly of excellent covers from such
wide-ranging artists as Public Enemy, Superchunk, Wire and
Butthole Surfers. Disc two starts off with the J Mascis-produced
Mr. Machinery Operator LP and adds a couple rare
compilation tracks and three previously unreleased live
recordings recorded for radio broadcast. There isn’t
much here that most fIREHOSE fanatics probably don’t
already own, but It’s nice to have the last years
of the band summed up in a nice complete little package.
