MCRACKINS
- Eggzit
(www.cheapskaterecords.com)
As an unrepentant fan of the Mcrackins, I
must say that a new album every two years
is better than seven (the length of time between
1999's Comic Books and Bubblegum
and their last release, 2006's Bat Out
of Shell). Eggzit is definitely
an about-face from the near rock-opera that
was Bat Out of Shell. Going back
to their roots, Eggzit is ten
hard-hitting pop punk ditties done the way
only the Mcrackins can do. But don't fret
fellow loyalists, the trademark harmonies
and melodies are still very much intact. Give
a listen to "He Said She Said",
"Gumparella", or "Heartaches
and Mistakes" and continue to be amazed
that a band as prolific as the Mcrackins can
produce non-stop hit after hit. A million
other bands have come and gone in their wake
or seen their output rapidly go downhill,
but the Mcrackins have maintained a level
of quality to their albums that is bar none.
And despite the album's title, the Mcrackins
have no plans to slow down anytime soon. And
as a fan, that makes me very egg-cited. -
