HALLOWEEN 2010
We checked out Halloween shows by Jack Skuller and his
band, and also the Ghost Of Uncle Joe's tribute show at
Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery. Jack and his
new band performed at the Living Room on Ludlow Street to
an all-ages audience of children and parents, and sounded
great, from his cover of "C'mon Everybody" to
his new song "Lost In Union Square Park," a 60's
inflected pop tune. At Harsimus Cemetery, several hundred
costumed revelers turned out to hear local musicians impersonate
REM, Neutral Milk Hotel, the Descendents, the Misfits, and
the Cramps. I missed the first two bands, but the Descendents
and Misfits inspired crazy costumed mosh pits and the Cramps
(despite some technical difficulties) did a great job capturing
the primitive throb of that classic punk band.
